INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME BETWEEN  RUSSIA & USA

     IUFS Art Center – Faculty of Arts & World Culture offer International Art and Culture Projects continues the development of the spiritual humanitarian traditions in  Russia and mutual cooperation with different world culture centers.

     Thus the foreign ministries and departments, companies and culture art establishments, business centers, producers are offered to undertake the grand cycle of concert, theatre, exhibition, educational, publishing, sport, tourist and cinema programmes intended for to intensify and renew integration processes between Russia and Asian countries, Australia and the USA.

     The main idea of this cultural project is mutual cooperation, according to the principle of cultural exchanging and mutual enrichment by the professional, traditional and amateur collectives of the cooperating countries. The IUFS Art Center offers the tours of the following collectives

1. State Russian Ballet Theatres of St. - Petersburg, Moscow, Voronezh, Minsk, Kiev  (ballets "SwanLake", "Giselle", "Sleeping Beauty", "Nut-Cracker" etc.)

2  Gala-concert "St. - Petersburg Ballet stars"-soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre, Mussorgsky Opera and Ballet Theatre and the State Rimsky-Korsakov

Conservatoire Russian Ballet Theatre.

3.   Imperial Orchestra of the Russia Folk Instruments involving vocal soloists and the performers of the Russian folk songs and romances

4. Russian Cossack Songs and Dances Ensemble:

    The Don, Cuban, Voronezh, Altai, Siberian, Neva.

5. Symphony and Chamber Orchestras of the State Philharmonics of St. Petersburg, Moscow

6. Ensembles (quartets, quintets) of strings, wood winds and brass involving the soloists from state   philharmonics, high music institutes, colleges and schools of St. Petersburgand Moscow

THE WORLD RUSSIAN BALLET

In 1743 on the place of the present building of the conservatoire was build the first Russian Saint-Petersburg’ Big theatre by command Empress Catherine 2 (the Great). There were premieres of the operas of M.Glinka “Gizn za tsarya ” and “Ludmila”, which established of Russian classical opera. On the stage of this theatre D.Rubiny, A.Patty, P.Viardo, F.Shalyapin had sung, V.Meierholdand the others had staged their performances. Sharl Didlo had created his ballets, and the legendary ballerina – Maria Talony had danced in this theatre. Marius Petipa had started his own half-century career in this theatre.   In 1860 after construction  the building of modern Mariinskiy theatre, the old building of  the Big theatre was rebuild on the Conservatoire with a splendid  auditorium, which exists in our days… Today there are three State musical theatres, which have a constant opera and  a ballet company, a choir and an orchestra available in Saint-Petersburg.  These are – Mariinskiy theatre, Mikhailovskiy theatre (by the name of Musorskiy) and Theatre of Conservatoire by the name of Rimskogo-Korsakova,   Nikita Dolgushin is a salient dancer and  choreographer represents an art manager of the last one.

A salient actor, a master of sharpen, elegant dance, lofty culture and intellect, has performed all classical repertoire.  He was the first executor of leading parts in a ballet of many modern choreographers. He has projected on many international stages: Mariinskiy and Bolshoy, in Paris, London, Tokyo, Vena and so on (more than in 20 countries).

CHOREOGRAPHER – an author  of original ballets and items on the programs, unsurpassed restorer of the worldwide classical heritage. More than 20 years in a theatre of Conservatoire he has managed company, which is well-known by its high professionalism in many countries. Quality, style and particular conceptual are the main differences of Dolgushin’s performances from another one. Many performances are designing the sets by him for. 

 His scientific approach to profession of a producer makes a restoration is unique, but original works are significant events of theatre seasons.

“The traits, which determine of Dolgushin’s destiny in art. One of them is an ascetic devotion to dance, talent for make a donation of everything that, subordinate a form, reach an ideal in expression of a life of a human spirit.  Another inseparable trait is a high extent of dependable academic manner, in other words, the purity and nobleness of manners are describe Dolgushin like a person a representative of precious traditions of Leningrad’ schooling. The third trait – attraction to an experiment, readiness to find and tried, conclude a union with ballet-masters of different art temperaments, views and manners… The art of a salient dancer Dolgushin can be compares to a bird Feniks, which son is more loud, than brightly a campfire blazes.”

“I was struck by how he understood that, the author – Sergey Prokofev told me about,”- K.Goleizovskiy about Dolgushin in the time of a production “Mimoletnosty”.

      There are masterpieces as ballets of Chaikovskiy – “Lebedinnoe ozero”, “Spyashaya krasavitsa”, “Shelkunchik”; “Jizel ” by A.Adan; “Don Kihot” and “Pahita. Grand pas” by L.Minkus… There are very important performances from repertoire of Dolgushin like -  “Baleti Serebryanogo veka”, “Polovetskie plyasky”, music for these performances wrote A.Borodin and a performance “Karmen-suita”, which got a high evolution from Maiya Plisetskaya   and the author of transcription, classicist of modern symphonize – Rodion Shedrin.

LEBEDINOE OZERO

3 acts, 4 scenes, 115 minutes, 50 actors

The Worldwide symbol of  ballet art. The performance about love, treachery,  repentance. In the version of Dolgushin, the performance keeps all “pearls” of a classical production of the great Russian choreographs – Lev Ivanov and Marius Petipa.

            Set design by Vyacheslav Okunev creates a fairyland with a boundless  lake. And white swans are swimming on the smooth surface of the lake.   But the lake overflows in calamity time. A harmony of a choreographic composition animated by senses of actors

SPYASHAYA KRASAVITSYA

2 acts, 4 scenes with prologue and apotheosis

100 minutes, 25 actors and 13 pupils of a choreograph school

            A chamber version reflects of a grandiose performance of Marius Petipa and in the same time stylizes for  a famous  production of a company “Ruskiy balet  Sergeya Dyagileva”. Costumes repeat sketches of a legendary Lev Baksta.

            A producer and  an artist of the performance – Nikita Dolgushin – intentionally reproduces a decorative motif of a curtain of  the Mariinskiy theatre  and tassels of  the famous painter Alexander Golovin. On the background of lace wings, in stylish costumes and amazing forms good conquers evil, like in an ideal fairytale.

SHELKUNCHIK

2 acts,5 scenes with prologue and epilogue

90 minutes, 50 actors

(A variant with participation of children: 25 actors

and 23 pupils of a choreograph school )

             Children and adults of all countries love the poetical and wise fairytale of E.A.Gofman.

A performance of  Nikita Dolgushin is decorated by a choreographic quotation from the first production of a ballet of Lev Ivanov in the Mariinskiy theatre in 1892: pas de deux Feya  Draje and Prints Orshada reproduced in the Russian theatre.

Phantasmagoria of Gofman, romance of a dream, selflessness of a young spirit are the main motif of the performance, which are crowned with masterly dances of exotic characters

RUSSIAN BALLET OF THE SILVER AGE

      The famous performances of the 20-century, which has aroused  indescribable rapture of a Western Europeand then American audience – is a famous chapter of Russian culture. Reconstruction of the masterpieces of Michael Fokin, Vatslav Nijinskiy, Lev Baksta, Alexander Benua - an exceptionally important and cultural action of a ballet company and an expensive gift for modern audience. The performance, which named “Nesravnennaya Pavlova” by the theatre –  like a bouquet”  of popular and not popular short plays, which were perform by the famous ballerina.

JIZEL ILIVILISI

2 acts, 90 minutes, 50 actors

      Is the top of a romantic choreography.  A traditional character of the version, which is enriched by reliable details according to scientific materials and iconography of a Petersburgtheatre museum, and because of an expedition and production experience. Everything of these gave to Nikita Dolgushin a potential  to reproduce a spirit and a style of the age of ballet romanticism, and in the same time excite audience by a history of sacrificial love in the real and fantastic  pictures.

 

PULCHINELLA

1 act, 40 minutes, 18 actors and

1 pupil of a choreograph school

A ballet of Constantine Chuvashev, the music by I.F.Stravinskiy

Actors of an ancient comedy of masks will tell you a very entertaining story about, like in a solar town on the south of Italy  was born a little Pulchinella how he was growing, founding friends, about their tricks and compassions, his happy love to Pinpinella is a daughter of an old Doctor, and about a victory at a visiting Captain, which has a help of Devil  in a fight for  a beautiful Pinpinella; what can be with  lovers, if there wasn’t be Doctor, who is a very good expert in his trade; at the and  about a wedding  of protagonists, and how Captain when he was disgrace, found his a fortunate person –  street-trader  Barbina-Emilia. 

IGRA V KARTI

1 act, 30 minutes, 15 actors

The ballet of Igor Stravinsky produced in  Russia for the first time.

The choreographer Constantine Chuvashev in co-operation with an artist Nikita Dolgushin according to his own libretto has created a performance of strained act, where is the fight for power is a main element of an acute choreography.

TANTSSIMFONIYA

1 act, 30 minutes, 18 actors

The reconstruction of a performance of an agent of Russian ballet - Fedor Vasilevich Lopuhov.  

      Through 80 years oblivion of this performance was return to a stage, owing to well preserved of author’s literary-graphic notice and a talent of a grandson of a choreographer – Fedor Vasilevich Lopuhov, the performance, which strikes by freshness and revelations of a choreographic idea.

      A Unique story and importance of this performance with music by Ludwig Beethoven’s 4-th symphony. In 1923 Lopuhov opened a new genre of choreographic art – dance symphony. But the ballet was flop on the premiere. It wasn’t comprehend by modern audience. It seems them like a dance without a plot. Seemed, that a performance sink into oblivion.  However, ideas about symphonysation of a dance – ballet without a plot – were pick up on the West by D. Balanchin (a participant of the premiere), M.Bejar, D.Noimaier and others.

PAHITA. GRAND PAS

1 act, 25 minutes, 14 actors

In 2004, inthe time of celebration of a 100-year anniversary of a great Russian choreographer, a ballet company of the Theatre restored some of his works. Leonid Veniaminovich Jacobson – an author of “Spartak”, “Shurale”, “Klop” and another performances. He displayed of a special talent in creation of choreographic miniatures – one of the rare genre of ballet theatre.

      Each miniature is a small performance with an inventive grace. This is a big poetic World of different ages, topics and images.

DON KIHOT

2 acts, 90 minutes, 40 actors, 13

The performance, which was create by Marius Petipa 136 years later with music by Minkus is a popular among a modern audience, performers. It appears as a parade of flowers, which compete with each other in brilliance, virtuosity and incendiary

       …You have appeared in the dreams to me

      Invisible, you was a nice for me…

      Beautiful daydreams, dreams, doubts, hopes, and languor of a soul – the “old” fillings like these can link a modern man with a man of the 19-th century. Particularly, if he responds to a poetry of Pushkin and music of Chaikovskiy. 

…And in the same moment

Isn’t a beautiful vision,

In a clear dark has flashed…

The heroine of our ballet, of course, isn’t Tatiana or Aurora but maybe, and the first and the another one, or someone else of beautiful women of Russian art.

POLOVETSKIE PLYASKI

1 acts, 15 minutes, 18 actors

The concert composition with a famous music by A.Borodin from an opera “Knyaz Igor”

            Imagination of an audience, which involve in a element of music and dance helps to see “waves of a steady feather- grass under a dark sky and a smoke of fireplaces on dunes, a flicker gold of the Scythian’s inheritors – more older nomads than shamans’ girlfriends or nieces laminations.

KARMEN-SUITA

1 act, 45 minutes, 19 actors

  When Don Hose went on an execution he prayed and though, that a life of a man in Rock’s hands… He remembered that day, when he didn’t pay attention to a mysterious figure in a black cocked hat, which was his Fortune…how got into magical nets of a gypsy…how an insuperable passion for Karmensyta put in his hand a knife. If here is a Spanish and a knife, so should be blood and death here.
